Seven Stages of High School

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

High school will be known to be your best years

With every passing day, we have more mixed emotions.

Friends may drift apart because of all the commotion.

It’s a time when you learn to face your fears.

There are seven stages a student must undergo

The first stage starts with a naive freshman,

Wanting to make a good first impression.

In a brand new place, they just want to go with the flow.

Then the sophomore, lifting their head up high.

Knowing they are now another familiar face,

Yet they are still trying to find their specific place.

Then the junior studying ‘til they cry.

The senior constantly thinking about their future.

Anxious about life-changing decisions,

That can change the future they envision.

They’re beginning to prepare for their next adventure.

Then the fifth stage, no senior can avoid.

The disease, senioritis, when students start to slack.

Procrastinating homework and projects back to back,

Leaving their teachers waiting and annoyed.

And finally, the sixth stage is here, graduation.

Now just a memory in a package.

Now they must start a new right of passage.

Then the last stage, students start college preparation.

Students will change the world as we know it,

Some will be inventors, some will be story writers.

Some will make music, others will be army fighters.

Most will achieve their dreams ‘cause of their grit.
